Frequently asked questions
Where can I rent a projector for a backyard movie night near Boston?
We're a local business in Medford, MA serving Medford, Somerville, Cambridge, Arlington, Winchester, Stoneham, Malden, Melrose, and more. Pick up from us in Medford, or we'll deliver to the Greater Boston area.
How much does it cost to rent a projector in Boston?
Our rates are flat and published live on our site so that you can have an easy time making rental decisions. We show you the exact price on the booking page before you pay anything.
How does booking work?
Choose a projector, pick your dates and pickup or delivery, add any accessories, and pay a $25 deposit online. The deposit counts toward your total; we'll get in touch within a few hours to confirm, and the rest is due over email or at pickup/delivery. If you prefer a human in the loop, at any time in the process you can text, email, or call us and we can facilitate booking.
Do you deliver?
Yes — anywhere within about 60 minutes of Medford. Delivery has a transparent pricing structure that we display on our website's checkout flow. Enter your address at checkout to see your exact delivery price.
When do I pick up and return the projector?
You choose pickup and return hours between 8 AM and 10 PM when you book. We have flexible and efficient pickup/dropoff hours that give you flexible scheduling options and allow us to stay highly efficient!
Can I use a projector outside during the day?
Direct sunlight overpowers any projector — including ours. But there are two good options: wait for dusk (the picture gets great as the light drops), or rent our 10×10 overhead canopy with sidewalls, which blocks enough ambient light for comfortable daytime viewing underneath it. The 7,300-lumen Epson is the right unit for daytime-canopy or dusk setups.
Which projector should I choose?
The Epson PowerLite L790U is the bright all-rounder — lawn parties, sports viewing, big outdoor picture. The BenQ LK936ST is a 4K short-throw that sits just a few feet from the screen — ideal for indoor movie nights and art slideshows. Specs for both are on the homepage. We supply these two projectors because they are the best available for most use-cases.
Do I need a screen and speakers?
You'll want both for movie nights. We rent a 135" outdoor screen and a 100" indoor screen and a 100W speaker pair that comfortably covers up to 30–50 people outdoors. Both projectors have small built-in speakers, but for a crowd you'll want the real thing.
What do I need at my location?
We rent accessories that allow you to get a projector setup going from scratch. Otherwise you should be prepared with a power outlet and something to play from like a laptop or streaming stick. The Epson has built-in Wi-Fi streaming with AirPlay; the BenQ connects by HDMI. If you don't have WiFi in your backyard, we can even supply a Starlink Mini kit.
What if it rains? Can I cancel?
If it rains you can cancel, and if there's inclement weather, we should get in touch to make sure your event goes as smoothly as possible (and our projectors stay safe!).
